When leading ductwork systems manufacturer and installer, Ventair (UK) Limited, needed to replace all the failed ventilation dampers in the engine shed at GWR Penzance, they turned to us.

Long Rock depot – the most Westerly and Southerly in the UK – overlooking the majestic St Michael’s Mount, appears an idyllic spot.
However, this coastal environment’s aggressive salt-laden air was most likely the reason for the premature failure of the existing (non-Konvekta) dampers by others.

20 No. Konvekta K500 PVC corrosion-resistant, multi-bank dampers were ordered; fitted with 24v modulating spring-return actuators, set to spring closed in the event of power failure.

Hull-based Ventair also wanted to reuse the existing actuators and wiring so – after a thorough technical evaluation – we determined that this could be achieved by introducing a wiring link between the existing and new, additional actuators.

We were able to reassure Ventair Director, Dean Baines, that the addition of linked actuators would not place excessive load on the existing power supply nor suffer lag in operating times. Peace-of-mind backed by our 40 year expertise.
